"…let’s hope that The Theatre Division are here to stay: one show in, and they’re already really good at this.”
Cassie Tongue, Aussie Theatre
The Theatre Division produces work we love; shows that have heart, are theatrically challenging and tell brave stories with universal appeal. These productions range from intimate solo shows and regional tours to concerts and large-scale theatrical productions.
Our inaugural production, Ruthless! premiered as part of the Reginald Season at the Seymour Centre, Sydney in June 2014 to popular and critical acclaim.
“Ruthless! is a winner. Its formidable line-up of leading ladies blazing away at towering send-ups of Broadway tropes makes this the best value musical ticket in town.” Jason Blake SMH
Current productions include commissioned play for young audiences Thai-riffic!, which had its world premiere in July 2017 and a new production of Australian musical Miracle City, opening at the Sydney Opera House in October 2017 before touring to Brisbane and Melbourne.
Lisa and Alistair have worked together since they created launchpad, an annual season of new Australian cabaret and music theatre at Sydney’s Griffin Theatre in 1999 & 2000. They went on to co-produce and direct Raise the Roof, a fundraising concert for tsunami relief for UNICEF at Sydney's State Theatre, as well as charity concerts Hat’s Off! and The Stars Come Out at the Sydney Theatre.
Lisa has directed many theatrical productions including the award-winning new Australian musical Life Force (Sydney Fringe 2013 Festival Pick Award) and Every Single Saturday, both written by Joanna Weinberg. She was the assistant to the international creative team and children’s acting coach of Disney’s The Lion King and live show director for the multi-award winning Australian cast and Emmy nominated American cast of children’s group Hi-5, with performances on Broadway and arena tours throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the US and the UK. Lisa graduated from NIDA – Movement Studies and UNSW – Theatre.
Alistair produced the Sydney premiere production of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. In partnership with Amanda Buckworth and Tyran Parke, he produced cabaret seasons featuring Australia’s best musical theatre performers at the Statement Lounge at Sydney’s State Theatre. For the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival he produced several gala concerts, The Mardi Gras Festival Club, drag spectacular Frocks at Fox and the long running comedy series Funny Farm. Alistair received a Mardi Gras Festival Award for his service and commitment to the Festival.
